I've spent a lifetime wanting to be Ani D
And realized that I can only be me.
Trapped in reality I can't quite see
Beyond the boulder that blocks my mind.
Lets rewind, shall we.
Take a trip on a soul train,
A one way ticket to my brain
Next stop 5th and sane
Uncovering a thing or two
Just to show you
That the time is nigh
Pull apart what glues you in
Take the car for a spin
And then maybe, just maybe
I'll realize the Ani within
And realized that I can only be me.

I adore Ani DiFranco and have for quite many years. I wrote this last september (04) after I had gone through a couple months of my normal Ani obsession. Quaint, to the point, but true
